A trauma bond is a deep emotional attachment formed through repeated cycles of affection, fear, and control — and hypnotherapy helps by working with the subconscious mind to release the emotional patterns that keep that bond in place, rather than relying on willpower alone.

My journey into hypnotherapy began as a deeply personal one. I was trapped in an abusive relationship, bound by trauma bonds and the cycle of control. Traditional therapy hadn’t worked for me — I had seen many psychologists, but nothing seemed to help. One psychologist even decided to stop working with me because I kept returning to my abuser. That rejection left me spiralling even further, questioning why I couldn’t break free and why I was stuck in this destructive cycle.

For a long time, I didn’t even recognise it as abuse — I justified the behaviour, hoped for change, and lost myself in the process. Eventually, I reached a breaking point where I knew I had to make a change for my survival and my sense of self-worth.

Hypnotherapy played a pivotal role in my healing. It gave me clarity, helped me release limiting beliefs, and empowered me to break free from the cycle of abuse. This transformation led me to become a hypnotherapist myself, and now my mission is to help women in similar situations reclaim their power, break free from generational patterns, and rise above their circumstances.

I now specialise in trauma bonds, generational abuse, and self-empowerment, offering holistic healing through my programs and my book, I See You. Every client I work with reminds me why I do this — to guide others to the light I once struggled to find.

What sparked your interest in clinical hypnotherapy?

My first encounter with hypnotherapy was during one of the darkest times in my life. I was emotionally depleted, struggling to break free from the grip of an abusive relationship, and drowning in self-blame and hopelessness. Traditional therapy hadn’t worked, and I was desperate for answers.

During this dark time, I turned to alcohol to numb the pain, but it was only a band aid for the deeper wounds. My turning point came when I was introduced to Time Line Therapy®. With each session, I felt lighter and freer, cutting the ties to the trauma bond I had with my abuser — bonds rooted in generational abuse. I felt alive for the first time in years. That experience gave me clarity, strength, and the realisation that I had found my purpose in life.

Time Line Therapy® changed everything. The sessions bypassed my conscious defenses and allowed me to access the root causes of my pain — generational abuse, limiting beliefs, and deep-seated fears. Hypnotherapy didn’t just heal the trauma; it also released my need for alcohol, which I had been using to cope. For the first time, I felt free from the emotional chains that had kept me bound. (If you’d like to understand exactly how that process works, I’ve written more about it in what is Time Line Therapy and Parts Therapy, and how do they help with trauma bonds and breaking cycles.)

What led you to your specific focus as a therapist?

My focus on abusive relationships, trauma bonds, and generational abuse comes directly from my lived experience. Having been trapped in an abusive relationship, I understand the confusion, denial, and pain that keep people stuck. I know the immense courage it takes to break free and the healing required to rebuild self-worth.

I also saw the patterns of generational abuse in my own family, and I realised how these cycles perpetuate themselves if left unaddressed. This realisation drives my work. I want to help others not only break free from abuse but also heal the underlying wounds that make them vulnerable to these cycles. Hypnotherapy, Time Line Therapy®, and Reiki allow me to offer a holistic approach, helping clients reclaim their identity and purpose.

How are childhood trauma, addiction, and adult relationship patterns connected?

There is a profound connection between childhood trauma, addiction, and adult relationship patterns. When we experience trauma as children, it shapes how we see ourselves and others. It can leave us with feelings of unworthiness and a need to seek validation or love, often in unhealthy ways.

This can manifest as addiction — whether to substances, behaviours, or toxic relationships. In my own life, I turned to alcohol to mask the pain, and I unconsciously sought relationships that mirrored the dynamics I had experienced growing up. Breaking that cycle required me to address the root causes of my trauma and recognise how these patterns were impacting my adult relationships.

Hypnotherapy helped me uncover and heal those wounds. By working with the subconscious mind, we can release the emotions and beliefs that keep us stuck, empowering clients to break free from both addiction and unhealthy relationship patterns.

What role does Time Line Therapy® play as a tool?

Time Line Therapy® is one of the most transformative tools I’ve ever encountered. It allowed me to revisit and reframe the root causes of my trauma, releasing the emotions and beliefs that had been keeping me tied to my abuser. With each session, I felt more empowered and in control of my life.

I combine Time Line Therapy® with hypnotherapy and Reiki in my HypnoQi program to address healing on all levels — mental, emotional, and energetic. I also encourage clients to use mirror work, inspired by Louise Hay, to reconnect with themselves and rebuild self-worth.

What makes this work most rewarding is witnessing the transformations in my clients. I’ve seen women who felt completely lost and broken rediscover their strength, confidence, and self-worth — breaking free from toxic patterns, setting healthy boundaries, and creating lives they never thought possible. This is exactly the work at the heart of my Identity Restoration Program.

She was in there all along. Nothing changes unless you do.

How do I know if I’m in a trauma bond?
Common signs include feeling drawn back to someone even after they’ve hurt you, justifying or minimising their behaviour to others, and feeling like you’ve lost your sense of self within the relationship. If parts of your own story felt familiar as you read this, that recognition is often the first sign.

Can hypnotherapy really help break a trauma bond?
Yes. Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind, where the emotional patterns of a trauma bond actually live, rather than relying on conscious willpower alone — which is often why other approaches haven’t worked.

Is trauma bonding linked to generational patterns of abuse?
Yes, for many people. Patterns learned in childhood or within a family can shape how the subconscious mind responds to love, control, and conflict later in life, making certain relationship dynamics feel familiar even when they’re harmful.

Do I need to have “hit rock bottom” before this kind of work can help?
No. While many people, myself included, find their way to this work during a difficult period, you don’t need to wait for a breaking point — the sooner these patterns are addressed, the sooner they can be released.

I Didn’t Win, and I Still Walked Away Feeling Like a Goddess

For a long time, I didn’t feel like a woman at all. I felt like a shadow. I shrank to keep the peace, dimmed myself so I wouldn’t be noticed, and forgot I was even allowed to take up space. So when I stepped onto the red carpet at the Celebrate Women Awards 2026 gala, in a sparkling gown, hair done and heart racing, something in me shifted. I was a finalist for the second year in a row. I didn’t win. And honestly? That’s okay. What being a finalist meant to me This year I was nominated across three categories: Wellness With Heart, Trusted Mentor & Coach, and Leap of Faith. Each one reflects a part of my journey: the healing work I do with my clients, the women I mentor through their own breakthroughs, and the leap I took when I chose to rebuild my life and share

Woman gently holding her stomach in a calm, cozy setting — IBS & Gut Health Program using hypnotherapy

Why Does My Gut Take Over My Whole Day? Hypnotherapy for IBS

Yes — gut-directed hypnotherapy is one of the most well-researched hypnotherapy applications there is. It works with the gut-brain connection directly, calming the nervous system signal that’s driving your symptoms. You know the drill before you’ve even left the house. Where’s the nearest bathroom. What’s safe to eat today, and what’s a gamble. Is today a “manage it and hope” day? Or a cancel-and-stay-close-to-home day? The bloating that makes you look six months pregnant by 3pm. The cramping that folds you in half without warning. You’ve done the elimination diets. You’ve tried the fibre, then tried cutting the fibre. Some of it helped a little. None of it gave you your life back. If that’s you, here’s something worth hearing. This isn’t in your head. And it isn’t a sign you’re “too sensitive.” Your gut and your nervous system are in constant conversation. Right now, that conversation has gone into

Woman relaxed on her couch at home with eyes closed during an online hypnotherapy session, laptop open showing the video call — illustrating that hypnotherapy works just as well over Zoom as in person.

Do I Need to See You in Person for This to Work? Hypnotherapy via Zoom vs. Face-to-Face

Yes — hypnotherapy works just as effectively over Zoom as it does in person. Hypnosis is a state you create yourself; my voice and guidance are simply how we get you there. That works exactly the same through a screen as it does across a room. I get some version of this question in almost every first phone call: “This is going to sound strange, but… does it actually work over video? Don’t you need to, like, be in the room with me?” It’s a completely fair question, and if it’s the thing quietly stopping you from booking, I want to answer it properly. Where this assumption comes from Most of what people picture when they imagine hypnosis comes from stage shows or old movies: a swinging watch, a hypnotist’s stare, something being done to someone. If that’s the picture in your head, then of course being in the same room feels
